This Wednesday, 19th January, at 7.00pm in Sacred Heart Church
Everyone is welcome to discuss the repairs and maintenance of our churches and halls as well as the financial implications of these decisions for our parish finances.
Fabric and finance wouldn't be my choice of a starting place for parish discussions. However, some work, particularly the electrics, urgently need attention.
I hope between now and Easter to hold a number of meetings as part of the Synod that Pope Francis has asked for throughout the Church. The basic question is how do we journey together as church and what steps does the Holy Spirit prompt us to take that we might grow in our journeying together. For the parish this will be a good way of emerging from the restrictions of the last couple of years and looking for a new normal.
I think four areas will help us relate to the synod question as a parish. The parish during the pandemic and emerging from it; the parish as a community that gathers in prayer to worship God, the life of the parish community, and the outreach of the parish.
We will also need to consider how to involve people who are still uncomfortable gathering in groups.
I would welcome your thoughts on any of the above and I would like to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in planning our parish synod meetings.
